Camouflage

Some days ago appeared information about “Assassin’s Creed” sequel. Already in the first game, the guy seemed to have dressed to stand out as much as possible (oh, don’t give me the “he can hide among monks” excuse, is he going to walk all the time with a herd of monks around him to be invisible?). Seems that Altair’s (no Desmonds!) choice of clothing hasn’t changed much.

the clothing he wore in the first game fit very well with the times. he was a muslim after all. and as youu know the sequel takes place in Italy. i my opinion the protagonist of ACII is far more elaborate and better looking than in the first. Altair was very plain. Ezio on the other hand is definitely dressed for the part. this is Renaissance Italy after all. his sleeves are silk with frilly cuffs. black leather boots with plenty of buckles. He looks more like he is wearing a jacket than a cloak. Ezio is dressed for the part. i look at the way he is dressedd and i think of Romeo and Juliet. its pretty close to the kind of stuff they wore in Venice and Tuscany and those other places. So i must disagree with the message this comic is sending. the only thing that would make the protagonist of either game seem obvious is the hood…and that is needed to hide his face. His shoulder cape makes him look even more renaissance-esque…its very shakesperian. Its a good thing : )

im just mainly happy that this character remembered to bring his water wings…cuz Altair could swim for crap lol. and besides…Venice is basically a huge body of water with a city on it, not being able to swim would be absurd.

Thanks for the input, Ezio! Well, I would disagree that this costume represents 15th century Italian noblemen outfit. It resembles with some elements, but mostly it’s a pimped up version to make it look “stylish” and “cool” for the video gamer audience. Here’s a picture of some sketches of clothing of those times:

You’d have to agree that it is quite different. Besides what’s the point of hiding your face with a hood, if you’re the only one wearing the hood. It’s easier to recognize someone by hood, rather by his facial peculiarities.
Though I have to agree that this game has never been much into accuracies (except for environment), so it’s no problem. But we couldn’t resist making a laugh at it.

thanks for the sketch :) but you do have to admit, it definitely has the look to it…with a few modernized aspects. i just cant wait til winter.

I think that this image is very goofy looking. I would have prefered an actual drawing to this strange image made in paint.

  8. Ezio Auditore de Firenze

I have to agree with you. This image is downright bad looking.
