Generic guys: dice pool RPG system

Here’s another installment of “Generic Guys” pen and paper RPG stuff. I have to admit that as I’m into developing RPG systems, I’ve toyed with quite a lot of variations how to represent the random element in the game and for now I’ve found that I really like dice-pool solution.

In case you have no idea, what I’m talking about, let me explain. Dice pool is a method in pen and paper RPG games, when instead of casting one die and adding your skill bonuses (or trying to throw a score that is below your skill as in GURPS), your skill is represented by a number of identical dice and you throw them all at once and then count as successes only those that meet the requirements. For instance, you have skill 5 in climbing, so you throw 5 D6 dice and count only those that come up with score 4 or more. But there can be many variations.

And I apologize for the lengthy explanation, I do get carried away, when the topic is RPG systems.
